Restorative DentistryRichardson, TX

Your smile is a work of art.

Therefore, finding the right dentist will help to keep it that way, or give you the extra touch that you truly deserve. While many dental offices provide a wide number of dental services, it can still be difficult to find someone who has the level of detail that you’re looking for. At Dentistry By Design, you finally have your answer for restorative dentistry.

Tooth-Colored Fillings

When it comes to maintaining your good oral health, Dr. Brad Tiner knows it’s important to treat dental concerns early, before they can grow into more extensive, and expensive problems. If you’re suffering from a dental cavity, treating your tooth decay promptly can prevent the need for a larger filling. With tooth fillings, you won’t have to worry about further damage and the need for more restoration and dental services.

Visiting Dentistry By Design for routine dental exams is the first step to detecting a cavity early (or keeping it from happening at all). Let Dr. Tiner know if you’re experiencing any of these symptoms of tooth decay:

  • Persistent pain or sensitivity
  • Discomfort when biting
  • Sharp sensitivity when eating something hot, cold or sweet
  • Visible holes or pits in your tooth
  • Unusual spots of tooth discoloration

With a quick call to Dentistry By Design, we’ll have you in right away to examine and treat your specific concern.

When repairing a cavity, Dr. Tiner recommends tooth-colored restorations. We know that you want your smile to look its best, but we also know that restoring a tooth’s function and durability is equally important. White restorations offer many advantages over traditional amalgam (silver metal) fillings:

  • With tooth-colored, composite materials, less healthy tooth structure needs to be removed, when compared to traditional silver, amalgam restorations.
  • Traditional silver fillings contract with temperature changes, resulting in damage and fractures to your natural tooth. Over time, this can lead to more costly damage that may require a dental crown to restore. Composites are stable and durable, protecting your tooth from further damage.
  • Composite Fillings are mercury-free. With amalgam restorations, trace amounts of mercury can leach into the surrounding oral tissue over time.
  • When you smile, you want to be admired for your pearly whites, not the flash of silver fillings.

Same-Day Crowns

If you’ve ever had dental crowns, you know that the process is typically very lengthy. In fact, it requires multiple different visits at least a couple of weeks apart, plus the need to wear a temporary crown while you wait. Not anymore!  With our same-day CEREC crowns service, we can start restoring your smile with one visit. We provide the high-quality crowns Richardson area residents can depend on.

Dr. Tiner has been using the CEREC same-day crown system for over 15 years, providing the highest level of care for the patients in our Richardson, TX office.

When you choose an office for same-day restorative dentistry, it’s important to select a dentist whose skill level can create CEREC restorations that are greater or equal in quality to traditional types of restorations. After all, you want the best quality crowns to restore the look and function of your teeth.

However, this can be difficult to do. At Dentistry By Design, Dr. Tiner has perfected the process for his patients. Equally important, all of our staff focus on your comfort along with your oral health needs. Every member of our highly-trained, professional team provides the highest quality care in a patient-friendly, caring environment.

You may need a full coverage restoration if your tooth is cracked, badly decayed, or has a root canal. Dr. Tiner also frequently places crowns on top of individual implants for single tooth replacement. A consultation at our office will help us determine your need for a crown and create a care plan for all your oral health needs.

Older methods of restoring teeth with crowns typically involved a time-intensive process. This included prepping your tooth and taking an impression in order to design a bulky temporary crown. Then, every patient would wear their temporary crown, which often came off, for a couple of weeks while the permanent replacement is created. However, at Dentistry By Design, there is no more need for this long wait – Dr. Tiner completes the entire process in a single visit. With his years of experience with the CEREC crown process, you can be assured that your crown and other dental needs are taken care of.

First, your tooth is prepared for the fixed restoration. Scans are taken of the area and this digital information is used to design a permanent crown made right here in our office. We use the latest milling technology and make sure we are up-to-date with any advancements in the field. You can sit back and relax, we’ll do the rest! As soon as your crown has been perfected under Dr. Tiner’s eye for detail, it is permanently affixed in place. CEREC crowns retain the look and feel of your natural teeth, so they restore your smile’s form and function.

It can take years to perfect the CEREC same day crown procedure, so Dr. Tiner’s experience and eye for detail are invaluable. In fact, he was featured on CBS’s American Health Front for his work with CEREC same day dentistry. With an experienced and highly trained dental team, you can feel safe and comfortable at one of the best dental centers in Texas. For more information, contact us today. CEREC crowns are the restoration you need, and Dentistry By Design will provide the service you deserve.

Dental Bridges

A dental bridge is a fixed restoration that can be used to replace missing teeth. An artificial tooth is attached on each end to a crown which is then bonded to a healthy tooth. If there is not a tooth for the crown, the bridge can be attached to dental implants.

Your new restoration should last for years – that’s why Dr. Tiner is very precise in the preparation and design of your new bridge. We want to restore not only your oral function and health, but your confidence as well. In fact, restorative dentistry can do this for you.

Each tooth on your bridge is carefully crafted to become a seamlessly natural part of your smile. Our goal is to deliver a restoration that looks and feels as close to the real thing as possible.

Great oral hygiene can extend the life of your bridge, crowns, or fillings. With a bridge, a few extra steps are needed to keep the area as clean as possible. In addition to brushing it thoroughly, it is important to use a floss threader or water flosser to clean under the artificial tooth at least once a day.

Scheduling preventive cleanings every six months will help establish the health and integrity of your prosthesis, avoiding complications later on. Our hygienists will also work with you to find various ways to clean your bridge.

If you have a missing tooth, replacing it quickly can prevent your other teeth from moving out of alignment. Dental bridges or implants are often recommended soon after having a tooth pulled. Therefore, you can have the bright, healthy smile you have always wanted. Contact Dentistry By Design for more information!

Dentures

Great fitting dentures will feel comfortable, give you confidence, and allow you to speak and eat the way you want to. At Dentistry By Design, Dr. Tiner works closely with you to design a prosthesis that looks great, complements your facial profile, and offers long-term success.

To replace all of the teeth at one time, a full denture is typically the preferred method of treatment. This prosthesis is removable and is stabilized over your jawline, using suction between the acrylic base and your gum tissues. If you have any teeth that are impacted by advanced gum disease or tooth decay, dental extractions are necessary prior to the placement of the denture.

When possible, Dr. Tiner prefers to help you maintain any existing teeth that are still healthy, instead of pulling them. A partial denture replaces all of the other teeth but snaps into place around your natural teeth. This makes the overall prosthesis much smaller and adds a bit more security depending on which teeth are being replaced.

Dr. Tiner can capably offer implant-supported prosthesis as an alternative to conventional dentures, due to his extensive work with dental implants. With an implant-supported denture, the prosthesis stays in place permanently or clasps in and out over an attachment.

The overall design of the appliance is also slimmer, as a “plate” is not needed across the roof of the mouth. Our patients find they enjoy more freedom to speak clearly and the ability to eat more difficult foods with an implant-supported prosthesis. Moreover, dentures can be supported by as few as four to six implant roots.
